1. General
This privacy policy explains how the website KriatTehillim.co.il ("the Site", "we"), operated by Chai BaReshet, licensed dealer no. 316372465 (Israel), treats information collected from users, in accordance with the Israeli Protection of Privacy Law, 5741-1981, and the Protection of Privacy Regulations (Data Security), 5777-2017.
Using the Site constitutes agreement to this privacy policy. If you do not agree to these terms, please stop using the Site.
2. What We Collect
2.1 Anonymous session identifier
On your first visit, a random session identifier (UUID — a string of random numbers) is created and stored in your browser's localStorage under the key kt_session. This identifier contains no personal information — it is a random number only, does not identify you, and is not shared with any third party.
The session identifier is used to manage the assignment of Psalms chapters in community campaigns (knowing which chapters this browser has already claimed) and to prevent technical faults.
2.2 IP address — hashed, for protection only
When performing certain actions (opening a campaign, claiming a chapter), our servers store a hashed version of your IP address. The hashing is one-way — the original IP address cannot be recovered from it. This data is used solely to prevent abuse (rate limiting) and is not used to identify users. It is deleted automatically after 30 days.
2.3 Campaign details you enter voluntarily
When opening a communal "Book of Psalms", the Site asks you to enter details such as the name of the person for healing or soul elevation, the campaign opener's name, and a description of the request. These details:
- Are entered voluntarily by you
- Are stored on the Site's servers so they can be shown to all campaign participants
- If the campaign is open ("public") — they are visible to all visitors of the Site
- Are never sold and never shared with third parties for advertising purposes
Recommendation: do not enter sensitive information (ID numbers, detailed medical information, addresses) in these fields.
2.4 Reading preferences (localStorage)
Your display preferences — dark/light mode, font size, vowels/cantillation, font family — are stored in your browser's localStorage (under the key kt_reading_prefs). This information is not sent to our servers and is not accessible to us.
2.5 Payments — future, processed by Tranzila
The Site may allow donations in the future. In that case, credit card processing will be handled directly by Tranzila (a payment processor licensed by the Bank of Israel), under its own privacy policy. We do not store credit card details — we never have access to the card number, expiry date, or CVV. When this option is activated, we will update this policy and detail the data passed to Tranzila.
3. What We Do NOT Collect
- We have no user accounts — the Site requires no registration
- No third-party cookies for targeted advertising
- No advertising trackers (Facebook Pixel, Google Ads, etc. — not installed)
- No third-party analytics that allow personal identification
- No selling of information to anyone
4. How We Use the Information
- To properly operate community campaigns (chapter assignment, real-time updates)
- To prevent abuse and protect service availability
- To store display preferences in your browser
The information is not used for targeted advertising, is not sold, and is not shared with third parties (except Tranzila for payment processing, if and when that option is activated).
5. Source of the Psalms Text
The Psalms text displayed on the Site is based on the Westminster Leningrad Codex (WLC), the openscriptures/morphhb project. This text is in the Public Domainand is distributed without restriction. The Site does not charge for the text itself.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
- Campaign data: retained while the campaign is active. Completed campaigns are retained for up to 12 months.
- Hashed IP for rate-limiting: deleted after 30 days.
- localStorage in your browser: under your control — you can clear it at any time via your browser settings.
7. Your Rights
Under the Israeli Protection of Privacy Law, 5741-1981, you have the right to:
- Review the information stored about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of information (subject to legal retention obligations)
For any privacy inquiry, write to us: [email protected]
8. Data Security
The Site operates over HTTPS. Campaign data is stored on the Supabase service (PostgreSQL) with Row-Level Security (RLS) policies restricting data access. We make reasonable efforts to protect the information, but cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be published on this page with an updated "last updated" date. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes agreement to the updated terms.
