About the Chida Method
Rabbi Chaim Yosef David Azulai (the Chida, 1724–1806) established a method for reciting Psalms according to the letters of a person's name. Psalm 119 is divided into 22 stanzas — each stanza begins with a different letter of the Hebrew alphabet. For each letter in the name, the corresponding stanza is recited. At the end, the 'Kra Satan' verses (Psalm 46:8, 12) are said.
